Physics of why it doesn't work.
The instinct when jumping or flipping is to apply more power to turn more rapidly. It will not work for a barrel roll and here is why: A barrel roll requires that the machine rotate around an axis perpendicular to the rotation axis of the tracks and engine. Conservation of momentum is working against this happening. If you could get the machine to rotate for the barrel roll it will always also rotate forward as well to conserve momentum. Twisting left or twisting right will have the same result, the front of the machine diving and trying to rotate the whole machine in the direction of the wheels (tracks). In a forward or reverse flip the rotation of the machine is around an axis parallel to the rotation axis of the wheels and engine. Angular momentum is conserved so the bike/machine stays upright for forward or reverse flips. The faster you are going the greater the force causing the machine to dive will be. This suggests that a barrel roll may be possible if it is done SLOW enough. Or you could stop the engine and tracks from turning just before leaving the ramp so there are no rotating parts forcing the nose to dive. Kinda hard to do! Change the trick altogether for a really neat trick! Combine a barrel roll with a forward flip. It would take a bit of thought though. The two rotations would be coupled (their relative speed would be locked together more or less) so you would need lots of air time to make it happen. This SHOULD be able to be done and would require very little force to be exerted by the rider to make it happen. Good luck! Jesse Hines
RE: Physics of why it doesn't work
It doesn't even need your babble, good explanation however. I see a one way gyro. I wonder if you realize you just described every transverse inline four automobile on this planet- it is the same retards on snowmobiles trying to do the impossible physics apparently...Maybe he should have hit the e-brake and called it a powerslide.. like a jackass in a honda civic.
