Racists comments aside,
he failed to act. Obviously they were out to start some shit and because they were in a group (even though almost all women) he was greatly outnumbered. He should have gotten up and gone to another car or stood up and gotten ready to take out the male as soon as the first punch was thrown his way. Sitting there in a submissive posture only emboldens assholes like that and in effect trapped him. Oh, and nice job by the other people sitting there and doing nothing.

This happened to me on a Bronx bus in '75.
I was reading a book when a group of 5 hispanic girls attacked me because I was wearing a Catholic school uniform. They kept calling me "rich white bitch" as they pummeled me. The irony, of course, was that I'm not white, I knew them when they were 7th graders and it happened three stops away from my home...the projects, so, I was far from being rich. Some people are just BORN trouble-makers and there's nothing anyone can do to change it. All we can hope for is for them to be caught in the act and punished to the fullest extent of the law. BTW, most of my attackers ended up as teen pregnancy statistics. One was shot and died during a robbery she was committing. Wow, karma or divine justice?
