  • Here's the problem...

I think that cop was out of line in that he told the kids to leave and even if that kid smiled that's a detainable offense? But beyond that here what skater kids need to realize: It's not that you are skating that is the problem, it's your parents. Because here's what will happen. You are skating on private property, you take a spill and hurt yourself, break a wrist, what ever. Then your parents see dollar signs and can sue who ever owns that property. That is the main problem. If I owned some land I wouldn't want skaters on it not because I think they are punks but rather because I wouldn't their parents trying to sue me if their kid hurts themselves on my property. A friend of mine owned a house and built a half pipe in his backyard. He was told that when not in use he has to pile up things on it like lawn chairs and what not because if a kid jumped his fence and got hurt on the ramp, that kid's parents could technically take him to court. So realize in most cases it's not that older people hate you, they just don't want to be liable to a law suit.

  • That little shit at the beginning who continues to skate onto the ramp after the guy picked it up is the same one who got taken away at the end. Good. The little fucker would have gotten his board over his head if he tried that with me. Here's a lesson: Break the law, pay the consequences. Here's another: Cop tells you to leave, you leave. These little fuckers, and many others like them, have been brought up in a world where their actions bring no consequences. And everything they do is great. And nothing they do is bad. And they're the victim.... blah blah blah. I'm glad the cop took him home at the end. Maybe a little humility and an ass whipping will teach him a little respect.

  • Thank You NetWolf

Your message hit the nail on the head. It's not the Security Guards and Cops that are the problem, it is the parents. Not only because of the lawsuit angle, but because they need to teach their kids some respect for the law and for property. This video shows your typical attitude that someone in authority runs into confronting a group of skateboarders. The skateboarders decide this is where their going to practice their sport, and anyone who has a problem with that has a problem with skateboarders in general and this gives the skateboarders the right to mouth off and be disrespectful. Just like any other sport, there is a right place and a wrong place to practice. I can't very well take a group of buddies onto the lawn of City Hall or other private property and do a pick up game of Baseball because I feel like it. That is called tresspassing, and it's against the law. If skateboarders want their sport and themselves to be respected, then they should act respectful of people and their property. If you do not have permission to be somewhere, go to your own yard or a skatepark. If they don't have a skatepark in your town, then put down the board and organize some fundraising to build one. Boarders are some of the most energetic and ambitious athletes going, so put that into something positive for yourselves.

  • I'd just like to know

What in the HELL these kids were doing that were causing a problem. They were skating on trash and a trash can. Now, when the guy pushed the kid (even though he used the thing they were skating on) they should arrest his sorry fat ass
