This footage captures the moment a shop assistant is berated for asking whether children in traditional 'African' dress are going "trick or treating". The video shows the mother of the youngsters, who according to one observer had just returned from a 'Rite of Passage' ceremony (a Maasai ritual) and hadn't yet got changed, shouting at the store clerk for her assumption. "You gonna apologise to my children for your little racist a** comment," she declares. Clearly irate, she also tells the shop assistant that she's working in a "black neighbourhood," adding that her "beautiful children are wearing "traditional African garments". The parent also points out something fairly puzzling – why would the woman behind the shop counter ask about Halloween in the middle of September? "They're in cultural clothing," she says, before talking about the diversity in the area. The video was originally posted to Twitter by Ethan Krane, who is clearly on the side of the shoppers.
