“New Day” hosts Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo, along with CNN analyst Chris Cillizza could not contain their excitement that a CNN story forced a Reddit user to apologize for the creation of his GIF that showed President Trump body-slamming the network.
“I thought it was remarkable that CNN found the Reddit user who created the GIF of Donald Trump and the wrestling video where he punches CNN,” Camerota said. “So the investigative team went back and found the guy who first created this, he took credit for it. And then here comes the remarkable part, he apologized.”
Cuomo nodded in agreement.
The program then put his apology on the screen and read it out.
“It was certainly not the outcome I would have thought once we tracked him down, and I think it’s actually a nice thing,” Cillizza said.
He then expressed dismay that the Trump administration has not apologized.
The CNN story by Andrew Kaczynski included these two paragraphs:
CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.
CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
