A girl was found sleeping inside a wheelie bin by council workers minutes before it was emptied into a rubbish truck.
The rough sleeper was discovered sheltering under a heap of cardboard in the 1100-litre bin while the crew did its rounds in Brixton, south London.
A quick-thinking employee spotted the fur lining of the young woman's coat after lifting the lid and alerted colleagues, potentially saving her from being crushed by heavy machinery.
She appears to be no older than a teenager, but her exact age is unknown.
Heartbreaking footage of the incident was shared anonymously on social media yesterday and has been viewed more than 15,000 times.
