Police are hunting a thief who went to extreme lengths to rob a post office in Oldham. CCTV shows how the man walked into the Watchcote branch in Failsworth on Christmas Eve and demanded money from staff. After failing to pull open a locked door he picked up a National Lottery stand and started to hit the counter screens with it. However, he wasn't able to smash his way through. So, the robber climbed onto the counter and forcibly removed ceiling tiles so he could drop through to the other side where he stole some cash. Police believe this was an act of desperation as the criminal was overheard saying he could't afford presents for his kids and he "may as well do the Post Office." He is described as white, 6ft tall, in his 20s and with pale blue eyes
